Vacation Post: 33 19 Opera Hunks Who Need To Serenade You Right Now

Carlos is an opera buff, and he has introduced to several operas, some of which I liked and some of which gave me a good excuse to nap.
And the good folks at Buzzfeed gave me this list of the 33 hottest opera singers and I searched through it and whittled it down to 19.
Here they are:

1. Noah Stewart
Noah grew up in Harlem, attended LaGuardia High School and Juilliard School, and eventually took up a scholarship at the San Francisco Opera. He recently played Don José in Carmen at the Royal Albert Hall.
I say, 'Gorgeous eyes, gorgeous pecs.'

2. Ramin Karimloo
People often debate over whether or not Ramin is truly operatic, but just look at him. In September, Ramin will reprise the role of Jean Valjean in a Canadian tour of Les Misérables.
I say, 'Eat your heart out, Hugh.'

3. Duncan Rock
Duncan is an English baritone and has had big roles like Don Giovanni in Don Giovanni and Papageno in The Magic Flute under his belt.
'Big roles  .... snicker.'

4. Matthew Worth
Matthew originated the role of Father Flynn in the world premiere of Doubt with the Minnesota Opera, and he’ll debut at Washington National Opera as Starbuck in Moby Dick.
Yum.

5. Philippe Sly
Philippe is French-Canadian, a bass-baritone, and an Adler Fellow at the San Francisco Opera in the 2013–2014 season.
I love his hair, and I love him hairless.

6. Ed Lyon
Ed describes himself on his Twitter as “Tenor, undercover yorkshireman, architecture and gym bore. Proud to be in #teamgay.”
So.Am.I.

7. Hadleigh Adams
While baritone and occasional fashion model Hadleigh Adams is openly gay, he doesn’t appreciate being stereotyped. When a gay paper in his native New Zealand called him “the queen of opera,” he insisted they take down the article and rephrase.
Well, he's definitely kingly, and sultry.

8. Beltrán Iraburu
Beltrán is a Spanish-born baritone working in Paris. He’s performed a number of roles under conductors Carlo Maria Giulini, Adam Fisher, and Riccardo Chailly.
And he looks good sweating.

9. Timothy McDevitt
Tim is a lyric baritone and hails from Reading, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Juilliard and recently performed in a production of Carousel with the New York Philharmonic on PBS, and even sang in a speedo at the Fire Island Opera Festival.
He has a lyric booty, to.

10. Douglas William
Douglas, as you’d expect, has tried his hand at modeling, but in addition to being a classically trained bass-baritone, he’s also received Shakespearean training, making him a fiercely versatile performer.
Hmmm, versatile?

11. Randal Turner
Randal began his training at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and recently performed with the New York City Opera for Rufus Wainwright’s opera Prima Donna
Sorry, I just had to rip his shirt off.

12. Mariusz Kwiecień
Mariusz is best known for playing the title role in Don Giovanni at the Vienna State Opera, San Francisco Opera, Royal Opera House in London, and the Metropolitan Opera.
He looks dangerous ... dangerously hot.

13. Jonas Kaufmann
Jonas is a German tenor known for his performances in spinto roles such as Don José in Carmen, Cavaradossi in Tosca, and the title role in Don Carlos.
Sexy hair, sexy eyes.

14. Erwin Schrott
Erwin is a bass-baritone from Uruguay. He is in a relationship with Russian soprano Anna Netrebko and they’ve appeared together in Don Giovanni with the New York Metropolitan Opera.
Treasure.Trail.

15. Jason Hardy
Jason is a bass who frequently performs with the New York City Opera, and has appeared in Puccini’s La Bohème.
He is certainly bohème.

16. Donovan Singletary
Donovan is a native of Crestview, Florida, and recently finished the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the Metropolitan Opera as a bass-baritone.
Jazzy, cool.

17. Simon Keenlyside
Simon is a British baritone who’s been performing since the ’80s and his prolific career has earned him a title from the British Empire. He’s married to Zenaida Yanowsky, a principal dancer at the Royal Ballet.
Beefcake, it's what's for opera.

18. John Brandon
John is a baritone from Ooltewah, Tennessee, and has performed in both operatic roles — Morales in Carmen with the North Carolina Opera — and musical theater roles, like Gaylord Ravenal in Showboat with the Naples Opera.
He's also a Broadway Babe??!?

19. Zachary Gordin
Zachary is a self-described “Baritone opera singer, fitness freak, and voice teacher.” He began his career as a countertenor and made a change to performing baritone rep.
Wow. Just. Wow.

Who's YOUR operatic crush?

  1. OMG... I had no idea opera was so ... inspiring. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

Magic flute under his belt? I'll just bet.

  3. I must be getting REALLY old (so what's new?) The only name here I was VERY familiar with was Simon Keenlyside, and that most certainly because he's been around for so long. Obviously a lot of 'physical talent' coming to the fore which I hadn't been aware of.

  4. There is only one opera singer - the incomparable Placido Domingo and like Raybeard the only one of the above I have heard of is Simon Keenlyside.

Love opera for the music and drama
