Letter To The Editor

As you all know, I love to rant. And I've had a lot to rant about lately. Everything from Michael Jackson and Mark Sanford to Sarah Palin. Well, I ranted to The State newspaper enough about mark Sanford that they decided maybe publishing it would shut me up.

Uh. No.

Anyway, here it is, from today's paper:

Sanford’s misconduct requires quick exit
I’m a Democrat who’s disgusted with Mark Sanford.
Oh, not because he cheated on his wife, because adultery crosses party lines like nothing else does — including doing what’s best for the people. No, my disgust with Mr. Sanford lies in his, well, lies. About where he is at any given moment. About how and why he disappears for days on end.
Mark Sanford needs to resign. Now.
As an elected official, he works for the people of South Carolina.
If my employee disappeared without reason or excuse for nearly a week, he’d be fired.
If my employee cannot be trusted to be available to work, then he should be fired.
Or better yet, just do the right thing and quit.

  1. How is the public sentiment running? Does he have any popular support left?

  3. The Repugs have voted to slap him on the wrist; their options included:
    • Ask the governor to resign
    • Reprimand the governor in a formal, nonbinding resolution
    • Do nothing
    • Or support the governor

    22 voted reprimand/wrist slap
    10 called for his resignation
9 voted to support the governor

  4. I thought he was going to resign so he could run for president... Oh wait. That was another ninny.

  5. Good for you for writing. Its unbelievable that they are allowing him to stay in office. As you said, in the private sector such behavior would not be tolerated.
